Portrait of Oscar Wilde - Framed Oil Painting

Oscar Wilde, famously gifted and witty author, playwright and poet. Wilde had the strength and passion to live life as he was, in a time and place that could not accept him. In this painting, an intuitive and open version of Oscar's soul is revealed. This is one of those paintings that had no predestined intention, other than to paint a likeness of Mr. Wilde. The underpainting revealed Mr. Wilde in a very different manner, but as I let the painting take its course, it evolved into the work you see here.

The painting is housed in an antique gilded frame that I believe Oscar would have approved of.
